Happy Birthday Saxon Shore! (what a year that was)

It’s hard to believe that Saxon Shore is only a year old today, as so much has happened over the last year that it feels like Saxon Shore has been around a lot longer.  So perhaps, today would be a good time to reflect on what Saxon Shore has achieved to date.

When we launched last January from Richard’s living room, we had already built up a modest amount of followers via our social media channels as people were intrigued by the use of social media in estate agency, our executive level of marketing including video tours and professional photography, and our striking artist designed boards.  We were fortunate to find that vendors liked our fresh approach and personalised service, that many took a chance on trying us, and it paid off! Our first property was listed on 4th January and had an offer accepted on 9th January! Not a bad start.

This flying start continued throughout the year, and we have been very lucky to find some fantastic vendors, many of whom had listed their homes with other agents and had got nowhere.  They were delighted to find that listing with us had got results and their homes sold.

Success breeds success, which meant we were able to take on our lovely offices in the Alexander Centre in July and ask Kim Ellis to join our team.  So, despite a general slow down in the local housing market in the second half of the year, we were able to keep up momentum, and we finished as the top independent estate agent in Faversham both for sales and new instructions* and the fastest agent to complete sales** Now we are going into 2018 with a housing stock we are very proud of.

When we set up Saxon Shore, we wanted to be more than just an estate agent. We wanted to be a family business first, but also one that could support local business and the community in which we live and love.  We are very proud to use local suppliers in our day to day running of Saxon Shore, we also support local makers and artists in our luxury hampers, office furnishings and of course via our lovely trades bike

But that’s not all, we have supported community groups and charities in the form of sponsorship of the Faversham and Whitstable Garage Safari’s. These were in aid of Faversham Creek Trust and Opening Your Heart to Bhutan respectively, donating £10 for every home that had one of our boards advertising the events along with competitions to raise awareness.

We are official sponsors of the Faversham 365 Photography Project, a lovely community based project that documents a year in the life of Faversham via a photo a day giving a snapshot of life in the town as it is today.

We have supported Faversham’s Community Christmas Lights, and hosted Rupert the miniature pony which was a hugely successful day, with nearly £100 being donated to support next year’s lights.  Faversham is very lucky to have such a great Christmas lights display each year and we will be proud to continue to support this team of volunteers that does such a fantastic job each year.

We will also be supporting a new event to Faversham in 2018, The Faversham Literary Festival which is already shaping up to be a very interesting event that will bring many more supporters into our lovely home town.

We hope you’ll agree, we are not your standard estate agent, as we spend today reflecting on how far we have come and our plans for 2018 we hope that you continue to enjoy following The Saxon Shore Way.
